Prime Minister Pierre expresses condolences on the passing of Mr. Earl Francis

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, the Cabinet of Ministers, and the Government of Saint Lucia extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late Earl Francis. His passing is a profound loss to the veteran community and the nation at large, and we share in the grief of those who knew and admired him.

Earl Francis was a retired police inspector and a long-serving, dedicated Secretary of the Saint Lucia Branch of the Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League. His commitment to the welfare of ex-service persons and their families reflected his deep sense of duty and compassion. He worked tirelessly to ensure that those who served their country with honour received the recognition and support they deserved.

For more than 30 years, Mr. Francis personally delivered food, care packages, and financial assistance to aged veterans and widows across the island. Even at the age of 84, he continued his mission, caring for the remaining veterans and widows with the same devotion and resilience that defined his service.

Mr. Francis was instrumental in coordinating Remembrance Day activities on an annual basis on behalf of the Executive and members of the Ex-Service League. His dedication to preserving the memory and sacrifices of veterans was evident in his meticulous planning and execution of these solemn commemorations.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Francis embodied the values of service, dedication, and selflessness. His advocacy and steadfast leadership within the League provided invaluable assistance, reinforcing the principles of respect and care for those who devoted their lives to service. His impact extended beyond his official duties, as he remained a pillar of support and guidance for many within the veteran community.

As we mourn his passing, we also honour his lifelong dedication to the well-being of others. His contributions to the ex-service community will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
