THE CREATION OF AN UNDERWATER SCULPTURE PARK IS A COMPONENT OF UNLEASHING THE BLUE ECONOMY OF THE CARIBBEAN (UBEC) PROJECT, FUNDED BY THE WORLD BANK.

The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information launches a National Storyboard Competition for Storyboards to inform the Design of Saint Lucia’s First Underwater Sculpture Park along the West Coast.

The creation of an underwater sculpture park is a component of Unleashing the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC) project, funded by the World Bank. In order to provide visitors with the most unique and captivating underwater experiences, the Ministry of Tourism therefore seeks to include public participation to inform the design and overall aesthetics of the park, prior to its development.

The National Storyboard Competition is open to all citizens from ten years of age and takes place from June 5–26, 2024. As part of the competition’s guidelines, the Ministry of Tourism will be looking for storyboards that are authentic, unique and clearly illustrate the selected theme(s) of culture, heritage and history.

The Ministry of Tourism is cognizant that an investment in an Underwater Sculpture Park is a significant milestone which will enhance Saint Lucia’s competitiveness as a premier dive and snorkelling destination and increase awareness of the island’s unique marine life in the global blue economy.

The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of EC$10,500. 2nd Place and 3rd Place will receive prizes of EC$3,500.00 and EC$2,000.00 respectively. The prize giving ceremony for the National Storyboard Competition is scheduled for Wednesday July 10, 2024.

The Ministry of Tourism is excited about this initiative and therefore encourages all creative and talented individuals to submit their storyboards and be part of the collective effort in shaping the future of Saint Lucia’s dive and snorkelling product.
