Twenty-one territories will be represented this week at the 4th Congress of Caribbean Writers in Guadeloupe, from April 15 - 18. The discussions are expected to centre on the diaspora, travel and migration issues.
The Association of Caribbean Writers, in a press statement, said Guadeloupe’s former director of cultural affairs, novelist Daniel Maximin, will present the inaugural address.
Authors expected to participate include: McDonald Dixon (Saint Lucia), Eduardo Lalo (Puerto Rico), Simone Schwarz-Bart (Guadeloupe), Yolanda Wood (Cuba), Elizabeth Nunez (Trinidad and Tobago), Delia Blanco (Dominican Republic) and Kwame Dawes (Jamaica).
The congress is sponsored by the Regional Council of Guadeloupe and attracts participants from Antigua, Barbados, Colombia, Cuba, Guyana, Haiti, Martinique, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guadeloupe, among other territories.
