THE SLUNCF INVITES CONCEPT NOTE SUBMISSIONS FROM INNOVATIVE ENTITIES.

In recognition of World Oceans Day 2025 ‘Sustainable Fishing Means More’, the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural Call for Proposals under the Marine Health Alliance (MHA) sub-grants programme. As of June 8th, the SLUNCF is soliciting Concept Notes for initiatives contributing directly to Marine Ecosystem Restoration and Conservation in Saint Lucia.

‘This is a historic moment as it marks another major milestone in the partnership between the SLUNCF and Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association’s (SLHTA) Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF),’ says Craig Henry, CEO of the SLUNCF. Karolin Troubetzkoy, Chairperson of the SLUNCF commented, ‘In the face of accelerating climate change, biodiversity loss, and mounting development pressures, we remain steadfast in our belief that conservation is not just an environmental responsibility—it is fundamental to the health, economy, and future of our nation.’

In consideration of the above, the MHA seeks to actively protect, restore, and sustain Saint Lucia's marine environment through strategic collaboration, innovative conservation practices, and community-driven empowerment. To pursue this mission, the SLUNCF invites Concept Note submissions from passionate and innovative entities aiming to drive Saint Lucian marine conservation efforts forward.

This funding opportunity is open to local NGOs & CBOs, academic and research institutions, and private or public sector entities with a conservation focus. The proposal should be aligned with two or more of the following core focus areas:

  • Restoration of degraded marine ecosystems (e.g., coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds)
  • Protection of marine biodiversity and critical species
  • Reduction of marine pollution and improvement of coastal water quality
  • Promotion of sustainable fisheries and alternative livelihoods
  • Community awareness, education, and stakeholder engagement in marine conservation
  • Climate resilience building in coastal and marine areas in Saint Lucia

Interested organisations are encouraged to apply by July 7, 2025.
