This Friday’s Poetry Night Live will feature poet Kendell Hippolyte, singer Chrycee, Headphunk and The Writers Forum.
Activities for the 2017 National Arts Festival commenced with a weekend community festival in Micoud from April 21. The three-day event encouraged participation from communities in Micoud showcasing their creativity in all areas of the arts – visual, fine, literary and performance.
On Friday, April 28, Poetry Night Live, held under the theme “Sounds of the Castries Underground” will feature Saint Lucian poet Kendell Hippolyte. Hippolyte will be joined by Joshua, and Lambert “Sky” Soomer, along with Christine “Chrycee” Charlemagne. Rashaad Joseph is also expected to take the stage on Friday night. In addition, members of Headphunk and The Writers' Forum will take the stage in what we are expecting will be a powerful night with spoken word. The free event commences at 7 p.m. and will take place on Cadet Street in Castries.
On April 29 and 30, a vibrant group of young actors will stage Katherine Atkinson’s play “Requiem for a Bad John” at the National Cultural Centre. The play will commence at 7 p.m. on both days. The entrance fee is $25.
