HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RECOMMISSIONING THAT WILL BRING MUCH NEEDED CARE TO THE CONSTITUENCY.

Health officials have expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the reconstruction of La Resource Wellness Centre.

The facility was decommissioned seven years ago following a fire, leaving the community to access care at the Richfond health facility.

Parliamentary Representative for Dennery (north), Hon. Shawn Edward said the absence of the health facility has created much distress for residents as the Richfond Wellness Centre has had to serve overwhelming numbers of clients.

The Dennery (north) MP said the reinstatement of the facility will be not only benefit the residents in the area, which has been marked as having high records of non-communicable diseases, but also the overburdened staff of the Richfond Wellness Centre.

Principal Nursing Officer, Julietta Frederick-Cassius, said the Community Nursing Unit is pleased with the site plans presented, while Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sharon Belmar-George elaborated on the additional services to be provided at the facility.

Health Minister, Moses Jn. Baptiste said many of the other facilities on island have already begun the process of reform and refurbishment.

The La Resource Wellness Centre Reconstruction project is said to be well underway for a July 2024 completion.
