The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program (GEF-SGP) in collaboration with PCI Media Impact and the Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Culture, Sports and Local Government, invites representatives of community groups and civil society organizations from the communities of Praslin, Mamiku, Mon Repos and Fond d'Or to a project clinic at the Praslin Community Centre. The purpose of the clinic is to further introduce groups to funding opportunities from the GEF SGP for the next three years, and to identify project concepts for development into proposals for implementation. Community groups are asked to send at least three representatives to participate in the project clinic. Project ideas must contribute to environmental sustainability, identify new ways of creating employment and income streams and help to develop the capacity of groups and community. Project ideas can include climate smart agriculture including various forms of organic farming; the use of alternative forms of energy in production systems; conservation of species; river bank stabilization; and ways of reducing pollution and toxic chemicals in the environment. Projects which contribute to the development of small and medium enterprises are welcome. The project clinic will be held at the Praslin Community Centre on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 6 - 8 p.m.
